Yesterday I attended 5.30pm mass, also known as sunset mass before going for my Dinner & Dance(DnD). I didn't realise that my best friend also attended the 5.30pm mass as I didn't see her. I wore a black blouse and a white skirt as the theme for the DnD was 'black and white formal'.

I bought the blouse from Orchard Road the day before as my friend really wanted me to accompany her attend DnD. To be more specific, I bought it from Dorothy Perkins and it costs me $36.

So I attended the DnD with my friend and all along we have been staying outside enjoying the scenery and having our own private chat as we didn't really enjoy the music. Father Henry Siew addressed us before we had our dinner in the NPC Hall. I left the place at 11.15pm as my mother called me to go home as it was so late already and she called my dad to pick me up at the Lady's statue. When I reached home, it was already 11.30pm and my family has not sleep yet.

Today, I received an award via letter from the MOE. I thought it is just those ordinary letter telling you how much money you've got in your account. But this time is different! At top of the envelope it says "Edusave Merit Bursary". This means that I can receive $250 from my parents as I am in the top 25% in the cohort. This award can be received from primary until Junior College. I think this is my 2nd or 3rd time receiving this award. Although I only passed 3 subjects, I still managed to receive this award because I am in Normal Academic(thru train) and my school is those type of neighbourhood school. I don't think I will be able to get a scholarship unless I work extremely hard for it.

Speaking about that, as I had mentioned earlier on that I failed 3 subjects, I must follow my parent meet the principal and my form teacher. Since my parents are very busy, as they are working, my teacher said that they do not need to meet the principal. How did I know that I must meet the principal with my parents? My form teacher told me on MSN chat. Different from the rest of the pupils where he called their parents and inform them. SO COOL!!!

I have drills in the morning followed by lunch and sectionals. I ate at Long John Silver's and ordered Golden Deal 2 which costs $5.90 as my budget is tight. My DM said that we had to memorise Marching Along from the start to the bar before part B. By the way, I accidentally brought home the Metro-Tuner from school as I used it for my section. I left it in my pocket and I forgotten to put it back into to the cupboard. Anyway, I can use it to help me in my rhythm.

Today I had band at 9am and I have to be there 30minutes before that, which means that I have to report to the band room at 8.30am.

The Band Major (BM) did warm ups with the band using 'Concert Band Clinic' and did some scales. Later, the conductor helped us tune our instruments. Today, I've just received the set piece for SYF '09. It is called 'Overture No. 1 for wind band' composed by Professor Kelly Tang. By the way, the composer is not a woman and he actually re-written the national anthem into a star wars version. He is a very complicated man because the songs he writes are so complicated including this set piece. My primary school, CHIJ Our Lady of the Nativity (CHIJ OLN), played 'The Light of Dawn' as their SYF piece before and they managed to get a silver for it.

On Wednesday, I am going to have drills in the morning and sectionals in the afternoon. I have to make full use of the sectional time to clear the set piece from the beginning to part H.

Actually today I should have piano lesson from 3pm-3.45pm. But my piano teacher, called me say that she can't teach me today and will have make-up lesson on Tuesday.

During piano lessons, I usually first play my 3 exam pieces then play my scales. I am trying to aim and take my Grade 5 piano practical examinations in July, so that I can focus on my GCE 'O' level examinations.

Yesterday was my last math remedial lesson with Ms Tan and I did not turn up as I have forgotten to set my alarm clock before going to bed. Yesterday I also have band practice and they are going to do drills and sectionals in order to prepare us for next year's SYF. My band has to produce a video showing us marching with our insruments and playing it. The band practice was from 9am-3pm. In the we morning have drills as the sun is not that scorching hot and afternoon we have sectionals.

11 Nov 2008

Today, I was late for my math remedial. As I was walking towards the staircase (in school), I saw my Additional Mathematics teacher, Mrs Elan. She told me to practice my AMATH during the holidays so that next year I won't fail my AMATH as she expects me to pass it. STRESS!!! When I reached my classroom, I realised that Ms Tan haven't start the lesson yet. PHEW!!!Today she taught the class Quartiles, continuing from yesterday's lesson. She asks us what time do we want to start our lesson for tomorrow. After much options said by my friends and voting, Ms Tan says that tomorrow's lesson will start at 8.30am. YAY!!! I can miss a bit of band practice... :X I hate drills!!! Must march here and there, run up and down and sweat like MAD!!!

At 3pm, I had Math tuition with my uncle. It's free-of-charge!!! He helped me with my homework and taught me Percentile, which is the next topic after Quartiles. Although it ended at 5pm, but it is very worth it as I managed to complete all my questions in my notes which Ms Tan gave me. YAY!!!

10 Nov 2008

Today, I have math remedial at 8am-10am and band practice at 8.30am-3pm. I attended my remedial first then I join in with my band.

During math remedial, Ms Tan, the math teacher, went though the homework she assigned to us and taught us a new chapter called 'Quartiles and Percentiles'. We did only 1 question as she need to rush of for her meeting. That 1 question requires me to draw graph and I hate it!!!

After math remedial, my friends and I went to the band room. When we entered the room, I noticed that my 2 conductors were present. 1 of them was helping the wind instruments and the other was helping the percussion section. I enjoyed myself because they were super funny!!! At 12noon, my friend and I went to Long John Silver's to have our lunch. I shared my umbrella with my friend as it was raining and my friend was lazy to take out her umbrella. I ordered Combo 2-1 fish, 1 chicken, fries and drink (coke) and it costs $5.90. My friend ordered Combo 1-2 pieces of chicken and drink. There were very few workers and customers in there. By 12.40pm my friend and I headed back to school as we have to be in the band room by 12.50pm as the conductor wanted to continue at 1pm sharp. Today, I end band at 2.30pm as the conductors has something on...

Today I am confirmed by the His Grace, Archbishop Nicholas Chia (Singapore). All the confirmants have to wear white as it stands for purity. There were 86 confirmants and some confirmants were from other churches. I wore a white dress which costs me S$108-bought from Robinsons, a crucifix which my grandmother bought from Egypt and pair of palm shoes which I bought it from U.R.S. located in Hougang Mall. The pair of shoes cost me around $38 after 10% discount.

I have to reach the the hall by 9.30am as they wanted to take group photos and brief us, whereas my godmother has to reach there by 10am. I can't believe that Glenn and Gabriel were alter boys for that day, they look very funny when they wore the alter boys clothing. It is very easy for me to spot them as they were the shortest amongst the rest of the guys when they stand together. HAHAHA!!! Immediately after mass, we had a confirmation group photo with His Grace and the parish priests. After the photo taking session, we were asked to proceed to the community hall to have our lunch and to receive the certificate. But I cannot attend the lunch because I have to go to my grandmother's place to have my lunch as she already prepared lunch for us already. It is so sad as I cannot receive my confirmation certificate from His Grace.

After lunch, I celebrated my cousin and aunt birthday. I love the chocolate cake as it was from Fourleaves. YUMMY!!! I even had a second serving!!! I fetch my godparents to Changi Airport before heading home to rest.

Today I went to Jean Yip which is located in Hougang Mall to cut my hair because it is very long. It costs me $19.90 and I think it is not worth because the male hairdresser cheated my money. I still prefer the last time when my mum brought me to Yishun to cut my hair. Although she took 1 hour to cut my hair, she managed to cut my hair nicely.

On 1 November, I went to watch High School Musical 3 in The Cathay with the facilitators/confirmants. In order to get there, we took an MRT down to Dhoby Ghaut intercahnge and took 2 escalators up. Next, we have to walk out and cross 2 roads if I am not wrong.

We meet each other in Hougang MRT station(near the control room) at 11am. I was the 1st to be there, followed by Esmeralda, Charlotte and then the rest. I didn't realise that we are catching the 3pm show. While waiting, me and Esmeralda take the lift down and went to grammaphone to see what CDs/DVDs they have. After 5 minutes, Gizella called my handphone telling me that we have to be up there as they are going to buy movie tickets. When me and Esmeralda reached, we saw that they were playing around and making a lot of noise. So we went further down to sit down. While we were talking, Marcus came and say that we are emoing because the rest of the people were at the other corner taking pictures and we are at this corner talking. Later on, he asked Andrea to take a picture of us (Me,Esmeralda and Marcus). After taking, we took an escalator up to watch the movie!

During the show, the facilitators were noisy. I hope they don't disturb the rest of the people who are watching. By the way, there aren't that much people in here compared to Golden Village (GV)in Plaza Singapura (PS). I can even do a head count in the cinema!

After the show, we waited for some people as they went to the toilets. Then, me and Esmeralda quickly go to grammaphone to view more items. After viewing most of the stuff, I received a phone call from Marcus telling me that they are now at the entrance of PS and ask me to meet them at the food court to have our lunch. Me and Esmeralda headed for PS and on the way, we saw Glenn talking on the phone and walking so slowly. When we reached PS, I suggest to Esmeralda that we go to Yamaha and see some stuff first. She agreed to it and we headed to Yamaha. Before we enter Yamaha, Marcus called me again. He was using Oliver's handphone as he did not pay for his phone bill. He asked us where were we and whether he can meet us in there to 'pick' us up and go with them to food court. I turned him down and said that we are going to have our lunch in Carl's Junior as Esmeralda kept wanting to go there and eat.

She ordered a Double Guacamole Burger combo and I ordered Carl's Catch Fish Sandwich combo. It costs me around $8 plus whereas Esmeralda's combo cost her around $11 plus. We meet them outside Carrefour as Marcus went to buy 1.5 litre water bottle. Me and Esmeralda left with the facilitators (Glenn, Gabriel, Solomon, Andrea). In the train me and Esmeralda talked to Marcus as he said that we are emoing again. I really had a great time!!!

On 18th October, I have band practice and Youth Rally. My band practice was from 8.30am-12noon and I have to meet in Nativity Church by 12noon. So, I attended band practice until 10.30am.

When I reached home (after attending my band practice), I ask my mother to help me make early lunch as I have to reach church by 12noon. While waiting for the food, I dozed off on my bed. By the time I woke up, it was already 12noon! I received an sms from Tracy, my catechist, reminding me that there's a youth rally today. I asked her whether I reach church by 1.30pm and she say can. I immediately wake up, bathe and have my lunch (chicken rice). When I reached the church, I saw them playing games and making a lot of noise. After this, we had praise and worship. Most of the songs they sang were familiar to me as when I was young, my mother always bring me to Catholic Spirituality Centre (CSC). After singing, we had our early dinner at 4.30pm. I didn't really finish my dinner as I do not have the appetite to eat. Not to forget, they give us a necklace shaped of a dove. On the dove it wrote "Receive the Holy Spirit" Acts 1:8.

We have to change into our Youth Rally shirt before we head to Toa Payoh Sports Hall for our Youth Rally. When we reached the sports hall, I see a lot of teenagers wearing the same shirt as me(Black). The facilitators/catechists shirts were sky blue in colour.

We sang a lot of songs and I can see that a lot of people is having fun. We also have adoration, the part when everyone has to be quiet and kneel down in respect to Jesus. There is also a skit acted out to deliver us a message. It ended around 10pm, and everyone was still so high in spirits. I will never forget this experience!

5 Nov 2008

Last night, Charlotte asked me whether I can go out with them to Hougang Mall and have dinner with them. But I say I can't as my parents bought dinner for me already and I know that my parents won't allow me to go out so late at night. Then, she asked me whether tomorrow I am free anot as she wants to go out and watch movies. She says that the facils and the other confirmants will be going. How she know that? Because Glenn told her that I was bored at home and he was trying to help me.

They wanted to meet at Hougang Plaza at 10am then go to town together have lunch, catch a movie and maybe some (window) shopping.

When I asked my parents to allow me, as Glenn asked me try my best to persuade them, my dad kept saying 'NO!'. So annoying! I feel like asking him to shut up, but I can't because he is my dad. If I ask him to shut up, he will sure scream his head off at me, say that I have no rights to ask him to shut up and the more he will not allow me to go out with my friends anymore. I walked out of their bedroom...A few minutes later, my mum came to my room and explained why I should not go out with them. She said that I must get ready for my confirmation(9 November) and at this age, I am the most vulnerable.

Since Glenn was last time taught by my mother, she said that she know them well enough as once they start going out, they will never stop. Then she also asked me why lately I have been using the handphone? I say that I need to ask them about the different ministry in the church and ask them about the time/location...

4 Nov 2008

Yesterday during band practice my band played 'The Light of Dawn'. My 2 male conductors said that we just need some polishing on that piece and soon it will be ready! Although it is a grade 2 and a half piece, I bet this might help my band clinch a silver if we choose this song as our SYF'09 piece. The set piece was said to be tough for us as the standard for SYF Central Judging will slowly be raised...Gotta practice real hard now!!!
